World's First A380 Lands in Singapore
The first Singapore Airlines A380 arrived at its new home in Singapore on 17 October 2007. Flying in on a 12-hour non-stop flight from Toulouse, France, the super-jumbo landed at Singapore Changi Airport’s new Terminal 3 around 1840hrs. It was heartily received by over 400 guests at the welcome ceremony held at a gate holdroom. Two fire trucks provided a salutary arc of water—the auspicious ‘water cannon salute’—triggered by Singapore Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong.

Singapore's Poor Hit Hard By Soaring Prices (July 27 '08)
One of the richest countries in Asia is seeing a dramatic rise in the number of people turning up for free meals.
For the third straight month inflation in Singapore is at a 26 year high at 7 and a half percent.
That along with soaring food costs and wages staying the same is forcing many Singaporeans to tighten their belts.
